Progressive Eyecare Las Vegas - Professional Corporate Headshots

Meet the doctors of Progressive Eyecare

Dr. Kant Ng, the owner and founder of Progressive Eyecare in Las Vegas, contacted me to update their professional headshots for each of their doctors. We chose to do a more traditional corporate headshot look as well as some brand matched portraits. I loaded up my gear and visited their two locations for onsite portraits. Brand matched portraits are a great way to inform your client/target audience of what you do and who you are.

We live in a digital age where your first contact with a prospective client may be an online image presence without your even knowing. Headshots are the new handshake. Update your headshot and start 2016 off on the right track. Contact me to book your headshot or learn more about our headshot packages here.

Katie and Eric's Wedding

I've enjoyed getting to know Katie over the past 8 years. I was thrilled when she asked me to be a part of her special day as her wedding photographer. Reno is just a short plane ride up from Las Vegas, travel doesn't get much easier than this for a wedding. Katie and Eric planned this amazing outdoor wedding in the middle of Reno. The Rancharra was a perfect setting full of beautiful tall green trees, white fences, a mansion  and a meadow for the ceremony. Luckily the dramatic clouds, which look great in pictures, only sprinkled on us.

Katie and Eric have a beautiful daughter and such a special bond as a couple. I wish you both many years of wedded bliss.

Alice Edwards of Edwards Realty Pros | Las Vegas Headshot Photography

Las Veags Head Shot Photographer

Every so often you come across people in life who are very driven. They exude confidence and positivity that seem to propel them to success. I've shifted my own thoughts and actions to concentrate on this the past few years with great rewards. Last weekend I had the pleasure of working with one of these very driven go-getters, Alice Edwards. I was super excited when she said she found me by searching for a headshot photographer on the web. We chatted and decided to go for a more modern headshot session outdoors. I admire this busy take care of business, entrepreneur and mother of two.  Alice has her own realty team, Edwards Realty Pros, is busy with creating a new tea company and has a goal to use her business and finance knowledge to write and teach others on the subject of financial literacy. With her energy I have no doubt her new tea company will be a great success.

My personal mantra is "Make it Happen."  It's always a pleasure to meet and work with those who choose to live this way.

Gardens of Versailles, France | Fine Art Travel Photography

Hands down one of my favorite places I've ever been to is the Chateau De Versailles. I must confess I have been three times I love it so much. Just outside of Paris, France this beautiful palace was once a hunting lodge and in it's grand days was able to host thousands of people in the French royal court. The king built a small palace called the Grand Trianon just to escape the hectic life at the main palace of Versailles The gardens extend to the horizon and you could wander for days in attempts to see all the grounds stumbling on hidden fountains and perfectly manicured hedges. Rent a bike and bike the perimeter of the grand canal with a picnic at the far end with a grand view of the palace and the surrounding estate. The image below is a horizontal panorama of the orangerie garden. Check out my Etsy shop for more of my fine art travel photography available for purchase.

Dr. Michelle Wong | Las Vegas Headshot Photography

I recently had the pleasure of taking professional corporate headshots for Dr. Michelle Wong. She is a Las Vegas optometrist who opened her own Clear Vision optometry office in 2011. Since that time I've enjoyed seeing her business grow. Dr. Wong asked for a formal headshot and a more contemporary headshot outdoors. We got a lot of beautiful shots from her photography session and below were her two favorites.

In addition to being an awesome eye doctor, she is an avid scrapbooker and foodie. She's even has her own food blog in which she often gets invited to new restaurant openings to review.

How Do You Dream of Being Photographed?

How Do You Dream of Being Photographed?

For some there may be an immediate answer to that question, for others they may draw a blank and still some may feel a moment of unease or panic at that thought of having someone create a portrait of them. Something I've found that I really enjoy is making women feel beautiful by creating a portrait of them that they love. The complete model for a day portrait experience includes a wardrobe style session, professional hair and makeup to make you feel pampered and to bring out your natural beauty by boosting your confidence, a 90 minute portrait session and an in person reveal session. Often times we as women take care of everyone else and put ourselves last. I don't have kids, just fur babies, but I know that it's a rarity if I step in front of the camera. Like many of you I am my own worst critic. In a way that's a good thing as it means I'm always striving to improve myself. On the other hand it means I tend look into the mirror and see only flaws. Next week I'm stepping in front of the camera myself to get a new headshot and a beautiful portrait of me that some day I hope to look back on and say I am proud of the strong beautiful and authentic person I came to be in my mid 30's.

Las Vegas Portrait Photographer

To introduce you to my real women portrait project I want you to meet my dear friend Lisa. She is a fellow photographer, awesome wife and mom of two handsome little boys. To say she has her hands full is an understatement. Her husband was recently offered a job in Florida and they will be moving to the Emerald Coast. I asked her to come over to experience my model for a day shoot complete with professional hair and makeup. Let's be honest when was the last time you had your hair and makeup done professionally? I bet may of you may say your wedding or your son or daughter's wedding. I was so excited Lisa agreed to step in front of my camera to create a beautiful portrait of her. I hope she says wow is that really me? Yes! You are gorgeous.

Every woman should have a portrait that makes them feel beautiful, sexy and confident. How do you dream of being photographed? Lets chat about your dream portrait session.

Abigayle and Reeve's Proposal and Family Shoot | Las Vegas Portrait Photography

I was absolutely thrilled to a part of Reeve's plan to propose to his long time girlfriend Abigayle. He bought her a gift certificate for a family photography session and gave it to her for Valentine's Day. Abigayle had been wanting to to some family portraits for a while and was super excited as we planned their shoot together. We came up with a Pinterest what to wear board and she did a great job of keeping me in the loop when shopping. The efforts yielded perfectly coordinated outfits for the whole family.

As Abigayle had envisioned something with a country flair, and a Scottish festival had taken over the park we had originally planned to shoot at, we headed out to Nelson, Nevada for their shoot. It worked out perfectly for their rustic session. We got some great family shots and once everyone was comfortable in front of the camera I took some couple's portraits which gave Reeve the opportunity to drop on one knee and propose Abigayle. I love her surprised and shocked look. Reeve said he had to ask a few times as she was in so much shock she forgot to answer. Abigayle was so excited she kept running up to everyone to tell them she just got proposed to and to show them the ring, it was so cute! Needless to say she was on cloud 9 the rest of the session.

After we got accomplished what we came for Abigayle had planned a fun paint war to end the session with. The kids especially had fun running around squirting pain on each other but I think it's obvious to see fun was had by everyone.

It's so awesome to be apart of and to document such a genuine and important moment in someone's life. I can't wait to deliver their canvas, storyboard, prints and images to them today as their first official family heirlooms. Thanks guys and enjoy your custom photography!

Dr. Sara Creekmore | Las Vegas Headshot Photography

Dr. Creekmore is relocating to Virgina to join an ophthalmology practice. Before her move the PR firm asked me to take some professional corporate headshots for their marketing. I love the diversity we got from shooting at a nearby park and some studio shots. Dr. Creekmore is as sweet as she is beautiful. You would never know she is a mother of three and had just recently delivered her youngest child a few weeks before we did her headshot session! Best of luck to you, Dr. Creekmore, with your new office. I'm looking forward to seeing the marketing materials they develop using the photos.

Cynthia and Daniel's Winter Engagement Session

When you think about Las Vegas the first thing that comes to mind is not usually snow and pine trees. A short drive outside of Vegas finds you at the higher elevations of our local mountain range, Mt. Charleston and Lee Canyon. It's a great place for cooling off in the summer, for a hike or playing in the snow during the winter.

Cynthia and Daniel wanted something outdoors for their engagement session so we set out in search of snow. It was cold but made for for some beautiful winter engagement photos.

CeCe and Brandon's Southern California Wedding

In July I got the opportunity to shoot this really cool wedding of CeCe and Brandon at the Alex Theater along side of my awesome photographer friend Ashly Covington of Covington Imagery. This cute theater in Glendale, California was built in in 1925 and was the perfect backdrop for this LA couple's wedding. Their invitations were made to look like theater tickets, multiple movie posters staring the bide and groom were displayed in the theater lobby and before the ceremony started a film was shown in which all their friends and family gave their best advice for a great marriage.

CeCe was a beautiful, sweet and gracious bride. Even though she had her makeup artist cancel on her last minute, Ce Ce took it in stride and had a fun time with her bridesmaids, all 9 of them, who came to her rescue and helped with her makeup.

My favorite moment from their wedding was their secret handshake which they did after their vows and before their first kiss. Congrats to you CeCe and Brandon, it was my pleasure to be present to capture their day.

Carrie and Bryan's Las Vegas Engagement Session

Last summer I met Carrie at a Las Vegas Young Professionals mixer and have enjoyed getting to know her and her fiance Bryan over the last year. Carrie and Bryan met at James Madison University and moved to Vegas about a year ago. They are anxiously counting down to their their fall wedding in Maryland.

My fabulous photographer friend Ashly of Ashly Covington Imagery came along to shoot with me. We got some epic shots on the Las Vegas strip from the Venetian, to Ceaser's Palace, to The Bellagio, The Cosmopolitan ending it with a drive out to the Las Vegas sign in full JMU gear. The four of us had tons of fun and I even got an email from Bryan thanking us for shooting their engagement photos and making it fun. Needless to say I was quite impressed. Carrie....he's a keeper, but you obviously know that!

Rosalynn and Bill's Reception Newport Beach, California

After the beautiful Tea Ceremony at the Buddhist Temple, Rosalynn and Bill headed back to the Marriott hotel in Newport Beach, California for their bridal portraits.  Since they reserved additional time, we were able to drive to Newport Beach for some epic shots with the ocean in the background.  This is where Rosalynn showed what a bad*ss she is - she climbed the cliff in her wedding gown - IN HEELS!!

After the beach wedding photos, we made our way to The Newport Beach Harbor for a fabulous reception aboard a yacht.  While cruising around the harbor for a few hours, everyone was blown away by the Irish rock band, Craic in the Stone.  We were instant fans and loved their version of "Zombie." Craic in the Stone is definitely good "craic", as the Irish say.  We wanted them to play longer but the bass player also happened to be the groom and he wanted to actually socialize at his reception - the nerve!

A big thank you to Ashly Covington of Covington Imagery who shot the wedding with me.  I'm looking forward to shooting more weddings together in the future as The A Team Imagery. And thank you so much to Rosalynn and Bill for choosing Alissa Esposito Photography to tell their wedding story. We truly enjoyed being part of your special day.

A Vietnamese Tea Ceremony in a Buddhist Temple - Rosalynn and Bill - Southern California Wedding Photographer

Last week I traveled down to Southern California with my amazing photographer friend Ashly of Covington Imagery to photograph Rosalynn and Bill's wedding. Ashly and I like to call ourselves the A Team Imagery and we had a blast shooting this amazing wedding together.

You may remember Rosalynn and Bill them from their engagement photos, which you can see here. Our day started bright and early at 6:30 at the Marriott in Newport Beach, CA. We did their getting ready, first look and group shots on the grounds of the property.

For the ceremony Rosalynn and Bill decided to do a Vietnamese Tea Ceremony in a Buddhist Temple in Santa Ana, California.  What a unique wedding, filled with beautiful dresses, colorful lights, mystical music chanted by monks, and intricate decor surrounded by their loved ones. There were so many great photos to choose from, that I decided to post their bride and groom beach portraits and their yacht reception photos on another blog post. Be sure to leave them some love and check back soon for Ros and Bill part 2.

Brand Matched Headshots - Cuningham Group Architecture

I love getting cool out of the box projects. Cuningham Group Architecture asked me to do some non-traditional headshots for their employees at their Las Vegas office. I really loved that they wanted to capture their employees in a way that represented what they do at the office.

Having a current headshot is important as often times employers are looking into your social media accounts to get an idea of who you are and how you represent yourself. Your headshot should be something that is professional and that reflects you and your brand, it is a key marking tool. If you are in need of getting your headshots done or updated check out my headshot photography page for more information.

Vivienne and Rove's Downtown Las Vegas Engagement Session

Congratulations to my friends Vivienne and Rove who recently got married at Emerald at Queensridge in Las Vegas, Nevada! Vivienne had contacted me to do her engagement photos this past summer. She was looking for a urban feel and chose to shoot in downtown Fremont Street area of Las Vegas. It was a crazy hot summer day but you wouldn't be able to tell from their photos. They used their favorite photo to make their seating arrangement chart for the wedding. So creative.

How to Travel Light on your next Overseas Trip

I admit it. I use to have an over packing problem. I'm not sure if this problem was seeded by the years in Girl Scouts where the motto is "always be prepared"... which translates into bring anything you may possibly need for any situation or weather condition, or the fact that I spent summers of my childhood in South Dakota in which the weather could and did change from one moment to the next. The little town of Spearfish holds the record for the largest temperature change in the shortest amount of time, 49 degrees F in a matter of 2 minutes... kid you not.

Anyway, back to packing....I love to travel and I love photography. It's important to travel light in order to enjoy your time and not be weighed down with extra luggage and gear. Plus you have to admit it's pretty lame to be walking down a cobble stone street in Florence with your luggage rattling 2 feet behind you.

Nerdy as he may be, I'm a big fan of Rick Steeve's travel series. It's from him I learned that it didn't matter if you were going on a 10 day trip to Europe or a 30 day trip. You really need the same things.

Here's what's in my bag for my 10 day trip:

  • Clothes
    • 5 shirts- these are my favorite travel shirts from Exofficio
    • 2 pants
    • 1 jacket
    • 1 light weight sweater or cardigan
    • 1 pair of shoes (brought a pair of Ecco shoes)
  • Other
    •  travel clothes line (do your laundry in the sink)
    • small travel pack of laundry soap or bring it in a small bottle
    • toiletries
    • outlet adapter for electrical appliance
    • guide book (mine was a year old as I may have gone in 2013 too....)

What to pack in:

My husband came across this amazing bag at REI.  It's a standard size for carry on. It has wheels if you want to tote it along but also has straps if you would rather carry it on your back. There is even a clip off day pack so you can use a small back pack while you are out sight seeing, and it's large enough for my 17" MacBook Pro for the air plane. The inside has pockets for all your accessories, undergarments, electronic adapters.

REI Stratocruiser
REI Stratocruiser back
Detachable Included Day Pack
Nylon Packing Cubes

Packing Cubes: These things rock. If you take a traditional backpacking backpack along, like we did last year, these packing cubes are perfect to keep all your stuff organized. A lot of time the backpacking backpacks are more like a large vertical duffel bag without these things get stuffed in and lost.  I ordered a set from Amazon for me and one for my husband in different colors.  A set of 3 costs between $20-$30.

Photography Equipment:

I know for most photographers it's hard to bring just one lens with you but it's very freeing not to loaded down with heavy gear and to be worried about the safety of your gear. Make sure your gear is insured and get a Spider Holster and enjoy.

I'm looking forward to sharing some of my travel photos with you on the bog and on the Etsy shop.
